Galen's Watch is a journal watch focused on all medical advances that impact complementary and alternative medicine practitioners, globally.
Our mission is to foster complete and relevant complementary and alternative medicine knowledge by bridging the gap between mainstream medicine, consumer news sources and complementary and alternative medicine.
Galen's Watch enables complementary and alternative medicine practitioners to continuously improve patient care with one single journal watch. It is a synopsis of CAM relevant articles from over 80 complementary, alternative and mainstream peer reviewed medical journals and consumer news sources.
Our method of hand selecting articles was designed to identify knowledge pertinent to Naturopaths, Medical /Clinical Herbalists, Nutritionists, Chiropractors, TCM Practitioners, Homeopaths, Midwives, Doulas, Aromatherapists and Alternative MDs. This unique selection process screens for studies pertinent to:
- Botanical medicine or phytotherapy, homeopathy, acupuncture, vitamins, minerals, neutraceuticals and essential oils
- The modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic Care, Orthomolecular Medicine, Medical Herbalism, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Clinical Nutrition, Midwifery and Aromatherapy
- Diagnostic principles, therapeutic skills and techniques used by complementary and alternative medicine practitioners
- Complementary treatments used by practitioners including hydrotherapy, massage, yoga, meditation and other lifestyle practices.
Research for our journal watch is conducted by a Medical Herbalist who has an understanding of complementary and alternative medicine disciplines and the studies that would be beneficial to complementary and alternative medicine practitioners. Galen's Watch does not review articles that involve animal or histological studies. The article selection process for our journal watch is overseen by an advisory group of four Naturopathic Doctors, one Clinical Herbalist and one Medical Herbalist.
Galen's Watch was named after Galen, the Roman Physician of Greek origins. Galen was the most accomplished physician of the Roman period. The Galen's Watch journal watch was inspired by the founding father of medicine's acute observation and his ability to influence all eventual descending streams of medicine, mainstream and alternative.
